FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Mojo Call

What phone services can I call from?

Mojo Call’s NZ access number is open to all phone networks in New Zealand except for Vodafone and the 2Talk VOIP service.

What happened to calling from Vodafone?

Mojo Call has stopped allowing calls from Vodafone mobile numbers because of a disagreement over interconnection. We are sorry that we have had to suspend access from Vodafone mobiles, and hope to one day resume service.

How Do I Make A Call?

We’ve have an entire page that tells you how. Click here for detailed instructions.

Is It Really Free?

Mojo Call allows you to use your mobile phone minutes to make free international calls. However, you are responsible for the cost of calling our access number. Our access number bills at  New Zealand national mobile phone rates. If you make a 30 minute call to India, you will use up 30 of your mobile minutes, or be charged for a 30 minute call to a NZ mobile phone from your landline.

When dialing your international destination, make sure that you do not hit the send button on your phone. That will disconnect you from our gateway and dial the international number over your normal mobile network.

Do I need to provide any personal information or enter any pin codes?

No. You do not need to create an account, provide us with any personal information, or credit card information. You also do not need to enter a PIN code. Just dial your international destination when our prompt instructs you to.

Is your access number a premium number?

No. Our access number is bills at New Zealand national mobile rates.  You will be charged the same amount to call this number as you would be charged to call any other mobile phone number.

What mobile network is your access number on?

Our access number is provided by the VOIP operator 2Talk. 2Talk customers cannot use their 2Talk account to call this number.

Can I use same network minutes to call your access number?

Same network minutes such as Voda to Voda cannot be used for calling our access number.

Can I call using a computer or soft phone?

You cannot use a computer or soft phone to dial our access number.

Do you have access numbers outside of New Zealand?

Yes. We offer free international calling from Australia, Japan, and South Africa.

Who should use MojoCall.com?

You should use Mojo Call when its cheaper for you to make a call to a NZ mobile phone number than it is for you to direct dial internationally or to use a calling card. A great time to use Mojo Call is when you have mobile minutes that are going to expire at the end of the month. Instead of losing them, call us and then make an international call to someone overseas for free.

If you are on a prepaid mobile plan with rates higher than what a typical calling card to your international destination costs, then you should not use MojoCall.com.

How does it work?

We have developed a VOIP (Voice Over IP) network that allows you to place internet calls from your mobile phone instead of through your computer.

When you dial the access numbers above, you are connecting to MojoCall’s Voice Over IP International Gateway. From there your call is placed over the internet in the same way as Skype, Vonage, and other VOIP services. When your call reaches the country you are dialing, we convert it back over to the local phone system, and it rings the dialed number just like a regular phone call.

Why don’t you include calling to more countries?

We would love to offer free calling to every country, but we can’t because of costs. The countries on this list are where the local phone systems offer extremely cheap network access to VOIP delivered calls. If additional countries lower costs for VOIP accessibility we will add them.
